YALI RLC-SA Alumnus, Tafadzwanashe Gavi from Zimbabwe is the founder of UmojaLands App. A multipurpose digital land-listing tool designed to connect farmers to vacant land to buy or lease, to farm workers, partnerships, fundraising through crowdfunding and various other opportunities within the agriculture value-chain.

A banker by profession, Tafadzwa’s passion for agriculture comes from his interest in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1-No Poverty and 2-Zero Hunger. His commitment to ensuring food security inspired him to come up with innovative approaches for effective land utilisation in Zimbabwe. He also believes there are untapped agricultural sector opportunities across the African Continent.
He says participating in the YALI RLC-SA fellowship was transformational and inspirational in many ways. It helped him redefine his business model and establish contacts with young leaders from across the region. He plans to enter new markets in South Africa, Mozambique, Rwanda and Ghana through contacts established during and after his YALI training.
Tafadzwa’s creative innovation was recently profiled by the Thomson Reuters Foundation as part of its emerging leaders spotlight initiative. https://www.reuters.com/article/zimbabwe-farming-tech-idAFL8N2FY18L
